Jeb Bush's education foundation plans to evaluate teachers on years of FCAT scores
St. Pete reports: Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education will rate Florida’s teachers again this year, but with a potentially far-reaching new twist: It'll use several years’ worth of FCAT data. This may sound wonky as all get out, but if you’re a teacher you’ll want to pay close attention.
Last year, he honored teachers based on one year's worth of scores. This year, he'll be doing more.
He had been criticized because researchers say one year is not long enough to fully evaluate a teacher's performance.
Why is this important? Because the growth model -- evaluating teachers based on many years' scores -- is one being touted as a method to use to pay bonuses for teachers.
